Prelude Talk

Please join us in the Grand Lobby for our brief pre-opera talk from Holland Community Opera Fellow Fernando Alejandro Montejano offering insight into Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street beginning at 6:40pm on Friday and 1:10 pm on Sunday. We strongly encourage you to read the synopsis before the opera begins. This will be listed in your program at the Orpheum Theater, or you can read it here.

Parking

Multiple surface and garage parking options are offered all within two blocks of the Orpheum Theater and additional parking is available at the OPPD Energy Plaza on Howard Street between 16th and 17th Streets. For patrons parking at OPPD, exit the OPPD Energy Plaza garage through the Orpheum Skylink and walk directly in to the Orpheum Theater third floor lobby. The garage closes 30 minutes after the production ends.

Guide to the Opera

Is this your first time attending an opera? If you're new to a certain performance, or just want to come prepared, it's great to read a synopsis or attend the pre-performance lecture prior to the show. Also, we don't expect you to learn a new language for the performance. All performances will have English supertitles projected above the stage so you can follow along. Click here for a helpful guide to the opera including suggestions on what to wear, when to arrive and about the orchestra.

In what language will Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street be presented?
The opera will be sung in English. English supertitles will be available on a screen above the stage and in the front of the Loge.

Are there lighting or sound elements I should be aware of?
There will be theatrical lighting elements for this performance. The singers will use microphones to amplify their voices.
