IMPORTANT SEASON ANNOUNCEMENT
OPERA OMAHA TO RESCHEDULE 2020-2021 SEASON
In response to the recent resurgence of COVID, Opera Omaha has made the difficult, but necessary decision to reschedule the company’s Orpheum Theater productions in the 2020/2021 Season to protect the safety of our patrons, artists and staff. We have worked diligently with artists and creative teams to offer previously scheduled titles and innovative Opera Omaha productions next year in our 2021/2022 Season, to be announced early 2021.
At this time, Opera Omaha is not planning to present any Orpheum Theater events for the remainder of its 2020-2021 season, including The Marriage of Figaro, scheduled for February 2021 and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, scheduled for April 2021. Based on COVID status and health recommendations, we will plan to offer additional outdoor Opera To Go neighborhood concerts, once weather permits, and are currently working to develop new large scale outdoor programming for the late spring, 2021.
Additionally, Opera Omaha will continue to produce digital content and virtual events, which can be accessed online or on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and serve community partners virtually through online programming and workshops with the Holland Community Opera Fellowship.
Opera Omaha has thrived on partnerships and creative innovation this year more than ever. We have deepened our connections and comradery amongst our arts partners and opera community, working together to pool resources and keep arts organizations afloat. We believe that as long as Opera Omaha continues to serve the community, we will remain worthy of the community’s support and all of us at Opera Omaha look forward to safely experiencing exciting performances with our loyal patrons and friends in the near future.
