and Sean Kelly, Piano
Follow the course of one woman’s courtship, marriage, birth of her child and ultimately the death of her husband in Robert Schumann’s restrained yet heartbreaking song cycle Frauenliebe und Leben. A torrid affair with a wealthy patron’s wife inspired Richard Wagner to write his famous cycle, Wesendonck Lieder, and whose mutual infatuation lead to his composition of Tristan und Isolde.
