2014-15 "Opera Unbound" Season Announced

30 APR 2014

Opera Omaha is pleased to announce our 2014-2015 season "Opera Unbound." This will be the 57th year that Opera Omaha has brought world-class opera to the Omaha Metro area. Remarkable new productions of operatic masterpieces featuring internationally renowned artists will be the hallmarks of another very exciting year for the company and its audience members. All three main-stage operas will be presented in the historic Orpheum Theater.

"Opera Unbound," relates to both the plights and triumphs of the season's operas' central characters as well as the aspiration and ambition of Opera Omaha after another year of sustained growth.

"I'm delighted to announce the details of Opera Omaha's new season," says General Director Roger Weitz. "We begin in October with Verdi's classic, Rigoletto. Despite its status as one of the most popular operas of all time, Rigoletto has not been produced in Omaha in 25 years. We will continue the season in February with a brand new production of A Flowering Tree, a young opera by the towering American composer John Adams. The same dynamic director and design team responsible for this season's Agrippina will create our premiere production of A Flowering Tree. We end the season in April by celebrating the 200th Anniversary of Beethoven's only opera, Fidelio, in a production designed by Jun Kaneko that has never before been seen in Omaha."

"Opera Omaha continues to go from strength to strength," Weitz said. "The 2014-2015 season propels that momentum even further."

Season subscriptions are on sale now for the 2014-2015 season; tickets to individual operas will go on sale by September 2. Season subscriptions can be purchased by phone:
