| There is something special about going to the opera.
For each of us, it was something different that pulled us in and gave us our first taste of feeling both larger and smaller than we were. The sweep of costumes as the chorus rushes in, noticing through misty eyes that one ray of light as our favorite character dies, the startling power and beauty of the human voice as it soars over the orchestra, or even just the unaccustomed feel of velvet as we settle into a seat.
This experience that only opera provides transcends our differences and, at least for a few moments, links us to each other. We share with a couple thousand other people that one moment we all crave when layers peel away, our view of the world subtly shifts, and we feel better about ourselves, refreshed and ready to get on with life.
There is something special about going to the opera.
See you at the opera!
