Overview

Music by Giuseppe Verdi
Libretto by Arrigo Boito
Adapted from Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor and scenes from Henry IV, parts 1 and 2
Performed in Italian with English supertitles

To feed his voluminous appetites, the grandiose knight Sir John Falstaff attempts to woo two wealthy women who outsmart him at every turn. Despite it all, Falstaff believes himself irresistible, and – in the end – we can’t help but agree. Shakespeare’s endearing rogue is the subject of Verdi’s great comic opera. Hal France will conduct this uproarious production by director Allegra Libonati. Argentine baritone Fabián Veloz who made his North American professional debut as Rigoletto with Opera Omaha in 2014, returns to sing his first Falstaff.
