Class 3: Contemporary Puccini
In 1996, Jonathan Larson premiered the rock musical Rent – exactly 100 years after the premiere of La Bohème. Rent is an update to Puccini’s 1896 work. The play chronicles the lives of poor young artists plagued with AIDS, set in New York’s East Village. Learn more about the works of Puccini used in modern culture.
